Connecting a brokerage account is the step that turns Options Scanner from a research tool into a desk you can act from. It takes about a minute, and every part of it is reversible. Let me walk you through exactly what you are authorizing.

0:15–0:35

Everything to do with connections lives in Settings, under API and Keys. This is also where your market data keys go, and where you would add a key for the AI assistant or the avatar. The control we want is Link your brokerage account.

0:35–0:50

That opens the list of supported brokerages. Pick yours. The rest of this flow is the same shape everywhere, though each brokerage runs its own authorization page.

0:50–1:20

The app stops here, and it records your acknowledgment before anything is connected. Reading it as written: by allowing Options Scanner to access your Alpaca account, you are granting it access to your account information, and authorization to place transactions at your direction. Alpaca does not warrant or guarantee that Options Scanner will work as advertised or expected. Take the time to read it. Only after you click Allow does the app hand off.

1:20–1:40

Approval happens on the brokerage's own page, under the brokerage's own login. We never see your brokerage password. You are shown the application name and the exact permissions being requested, and you can deny right here.

1:40–2:00

Back in the app the account shows as linked, and the environment is labeled. This one is a paper account, and paper and real records never mix anywhere in this product. Balances and positions come straight from your brokerage now, so what you see here is what your broker sees.

2:00–2:20

You can revoke this authorization at any time, from this button or from your brokerage's own settings, and revoking it never affects positions you already hold. Next in this series: the morning briefing. Options Scanner is operated by Avenix Solutions LLC. It is not a broker-dealer and not an investment adviser, and it never holds customer funds. Thanks for watching.

Educational reference. Options Scanner is a software tool. It is not a broker-dealer, an investment adviser, or a fiduciary, and nothing on this page is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Options involve risk and are not suitable for every investor; read the Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options before trading. Examples use hypothetical numbers for illustration only.
